When James Buchanan became CEO of the company in 2005, he discovered growth opportunities that his lifelong entrepreneurial spirit could not have anticipated. Company Evolution
SCP was purchased from its founders by James Buchanan and his business partner Charles Backs
SCP starting investing in developing a better silicon carbide igniter.
SCP formed its Board of Directors with James Buchanan, Charles Backs, Jim Pearson and Joe Mark.
Joe Mark and James Buchanan purchased Charles Backs’ shares as Charles chose to focus on his law practice and other entrepreneurial endeavors
SCP introduced our patented silicon carbide igniter. A faster, more reliable, energy efficient, and durable igniter.
SCP won its first major OEM contract with our patented silicon carbide igniter. Our silicon carbide igniter is more reliable, faster, durable energy efficient than the industry standard.
SCP files 2 additional patents for inventions related to surface cooking.
SCP buys 2 more buildings along with some undeveloped land to expand its Indiana operations to serve our growing customer base and prepare for future growth.
SCP launched a completely silent cooktop ignition solution that lights the 1st time every time. Its elegant, simpler, safer and more reliable than standard spark igniters.
SCP opens a sales office in Seoul, Korea for serving South Korea.
SCP won several new silicon carbide OEM cooking customers in North America making SCP a world leader in carbide igniter and beginning to get a toe hold on some key silicon nitride accounts.
SCP files 14 different patent applications for various ignition system inventions.
SCP introduces its new silicon nitride igniter gas valve system. This system can service cooking, heating, hot water heating, and radiant heating applications.
SCP executes its first silicon nitride gas cavity solutions agreement in cooking. Ushering in a new level of reliability and temperature control for residential and commercial cooking solutions.
SCP continues to scale its silicon carbide igniter operation expanding our footprint to includes assembly operations in Mexico to serve our expanding customer base.
SCP continues to file several patents on our new gas control and flame sensing systems.
SCP launches world first 220/230v energy efficient, robust, igniter for serving the global markets of Asia Pacific, Middle East, Latin America, and Europe. We are offering a solution for the 1st time this market has had the opportunity utilize our silicon nitride ignition gas system.
SCP hires a sales team to serve China, India, and the rest of the Asian Pacific Region. This is the fastest growing region for gas appliances in world.
SCP files several more patents around our gas valve and ignition system technology. Brining our total patents both issued and pending to 40 in total.
